There will be a blood drive here at Woodlake High School on March 25, 2017. If any student is a new donor please make sure to turn in the New Donor Information form. Also, turn in the parent’s consent form for those who are under age. For those who are wondering who can give blood, here are the requirements: the giver must be in good health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be at least 16 years of age. If someone is giving blood, make sure to eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within 4 hours prior to donating blood. Only one pint of blood will be donated. Keep in mind that for every 25 pounds of body weight, there is two pints of blood. The body will replenish the lost blood within the next 24 hours. However, people should only give blood every eight weeks. For those nervous first time blood donors, note that is natural to feel nervous but giving blood is safe and easy and the feeling someone who donated gets, after helping a patient in need, is so rewarding. Woodlake’s goal this year is to get 45 pints of blood donated to save lives.
