Coraline is dark fantasy children book written by Neil Gaiman. The plot of the story is Coraline Jones and her parents have just moved into a new house were it is divided into apartments. Her neighbors are retired stage ladies Miss Spink and Miss Forcible, and her upstairs neighbor is Mr. Bobo who is also referred to as “the crazy man upstairs.” There is one room that is unoccupied, and that room connects to Coraline’s apartment by a tiny door. Coraline calls Mr. Bobo “the crazy man upstairs” because he claims to be training a mouse circus, so when Coraline goes to greet Mr.Bobo, he delivers her a warning from his mice saying “Do not go through the small door” and Coraline disregards his message about the door. Coraline has tea with Miss Spink and Miss Forcible where they read her tea leaves and give her a warning that she is in terrible danger, so Miss Spink gives her a lucky stone with a hole in the center which is supposed to be used for locating spirits. Coraline does not listen to her neighbors warning about the door and continues to go through the tiny door. What is on the other side of the door? Tune in next month to book club to see what happens to Coraline as she goes through the “dangerous” door.
